She said I should have left long ago

She knew she had to go.

Too much time in one place is not good,

And she chose to look past her woe.

He said that he would miss her so,

He asked her to stay in hope she could.

She said she should have left long ago.

He loved her ways; her vibrant glow.

She declined his offer and pulled up her hood,

And she chose to look past her woe.

She was off to France, off to Bordeaux,

She knew he would follow and hoped he would.

She said she should have left long ago.

He watched her drive away in the light snow.

She wanted to stay but understood,

And she chose to look past her woe.

Off she went like the carrion crow,

Leaving behind a life that she withstood,

She said she should have left long ago,

And she chose to look past her woe.

What do you mean when you say,
"Off she went like the carrion crow,

Leaving behind a life that she withstood"?
