Soccer World Cup

Your on the field, you feel the wind blow in your face as you run
Your jersey blows back leaning on your chest
Your sweat pours down on your face like a waterfall
You realize that you might have a good shot
You call out your teammates name to pass you the ball because you’re open and have a clear shot
Your heart starts to beat fast because all the pressure is on you to make that goal
Your legs get stiff and the adrenaline rush starts to come as you are near the goalie
You pickup your leg ready for the kick that will make the team win because you all are tied.
Your muscles start to strengthen up as your ready to kick.
The muscles now become defined and this is where all the training comes in

BAM
The ball moves in the air leaving you there waiting with the grass moving back and forth
You are there waiting for about five seconds to see if it’s a goal and it seems like five hours
Your team’s faces are blank and their mouths are wide open
The ball is twirling in the air slowly but gracefully and you’re waiting
And waiting
The ball moves showing the pattern of it being black and white.
The coach pulls off his cap with great anxiety and his mouth is open so wide you can drive a truck in it
The goalie is in a defensive position ready to save his team and the sweat drips down his face and moves slowly down his chest
The crowd is silent and you’re waiting
The goalie jumps sideways with his hands reaching for the ball like it depends on his life. His hands are so spread out that the look likes lion claws with the adrenaline running through his body

WOOSH
Its in it’s a goal it’s a point it’s what you’ve been
Waiting for
You were waiting to win and now you won.
You have won the World Cup.
You have made it that far with your team.
You have received criticism and encouragement.
This is it. This is the moment you have waiting for. This is your moment, your country’s moment, your team’s moment.
You did it. You’re relived that all this pressure is off you
AHHHHHHHHH
Before the crowd was quiet as if were a violin show and now it’s like the buildings on fire
Your team runs up to you with gratification and satisfaction that they won.
As your team runs you can see the expressions of great victory.
Their surprised. Their relived. Their happy……….Their tired.
You walk up to your team slowly and an expression on your face that’s happy and exhausted and you can’t feel your legs because of all the running you have done.
Your team carries you on their shoulder as you hold up that cup.
The cup seems heavy at first and then you lift it in the air like a feather. The gold of it reflects all of the mirrors and cameras which blocks out the stadium a little
Now the dream has come true for your country. And the dream has come true for you
