“Nothing’s Going to Change”

The morning light

Shines through the window,

Has the impression

Of an eerie glow.

Plaster a smile

Upon my face, try to

Put myself back

In place.

(Rephrase)

Oh… nothing’s

Going to change, nothing’s

Going to change, another

Day all the same.

Oh… nothing’s going to

Change, Nothing’s going to change,

A new birth’s born every day…

Doesn’t matter what

Game I’ll play.

(Rephrase)

Silver liquid drops

Hit the ground.

Try and hear
the faintest sound.

The sun streams in,

Down comes the snow.

A casted shadow

Of a ghostly glow.

(Rephrase)

The morning light

Shines through the window,

Has the impression

Of an eerie glow.

Plaster a smile

Upon my face, try to

Put myself back

In place.

Be careful you don’t

Get left behind,

There will be

Nothing left to find.

(Rephrase)

Doesn’t matter what game,

I’ll play.

It's interesting that you wrote this when you were 7, it just proves to those people out there that kids are smart and their intelligence is not to be dismissed just because they are at the age of playing with Barbies. *rant over*

The odd things about this song is the amount of description given to the weather outside, the fact that that keeps changing, and yet the song is titled "Nothing's Going to Change"...

The line at the end of some of the choruses- "Doesn't matter what game, I'll play" - is just a little confusing because the theme of that line seems like it doesn't contribute to the overall message of the song...

Don't get me wrong, this song is profound. It's just my nature to be nitpicky. :D Change it if it feels right, but make sure you keep a copy of this in its original form so that you can go back and draw inspiration from your younger self.

Nice! I'm not entirely sure what the whole thing is about, but it's really beautiful!

I would totally write the music for it (unless you have something in your head for it already).

My word, you were quite the little prodigy! (Yes, that was meant to sound a bit corny.) You have definetly kept that talent.

Keep posting more of your stuff, because it's really good!

After some reflection, this seems just a tiny bit like the song "Ninety-Nine Red Balloons." Don't ask me why; maybe it's the meter, or the line "There will be nothing left to find," or just the fact that there's lots of short rhyming lines.

By the way, is all of the precipitation wiping away all traces of existence or what? I'm not sure of the entire theme, as I've said above, but I like it.

hey maria, hey gina, im not sure if this is wat bela is going 4 but maybe this is kind of about kidding yourself, but all the same preparing for the journey you dont want to take.

Wow, that's a lot of comments. Thanks! Let's start with
Maddie: Thank you, thank you. But you're amazing, too!!! I LOVED that poem about Claire!!!
Gina: Thanks for that. I'm not really sure what to say about the first paragraph...but the song itself is about how I'm suddenly realizing that things are changing, yet they're somehow all the same. As for the "it doesn't matter what game, I'll play", At first, I'm saying "It doesn't matter what game I'm playing, it's still all the same." But that last time I say it, I mean it as if I'm saying, "It doesn't matter what game, I'm still going to play it, to 'take the journey' as Maddie said" Very impressive of you to catch that!!!
Maria: Thanks!!! Yes, I do have something that's (kind of) in my head. But I'd LOVE to hear your ideas!!! Hopefully I'll see you next summer? By the way, I wouldn't call myself a prodigy, but thanks again!!! I'll keep posting!!!
Maria again: "Ninety-nine Red balloons"? My sister likes that song, but I've never heard it before. Precipitation? You confuse me. But thanks again!!!
Maddie: MADDIE, MADDIE, MADDIE!!! You've realize what the poem really means (in a nutshell)!!! Keep at it!!!

Bela, 99 Red Balloons is an 80s techno pop song originally written in German and later translated by the group who wrote it and sung in English. (By the way, the same lead singer, Nena, in the English version sounds French.) It's a very uptempo, upbeat song that was played a lot at parties, but the lyrics are about the nuclear annihilation of the world. There's also a more coherent version by Goldfinger. Search for it on YouTube, it's definitely worth a listen.

By the way, I know the leather pants that Nena is wearing in the video and the annoying synthesizer loops are distrating, but listen to the words carefully, especially the tune, and maybe you'll get what Maria meant. It's basically just the flow and meter of your lyrics that are sort of similar, not the content. ;D

ewww, whoever thought leather pants were attractive?!!! >:P

oh, maddie, I'm sure your leathr pants are tasteful, but if you watch the video of the Nena version of 99 Red Balloons, she's wearing some pretty darn ugly ones. And her bandmates are always chewing gum angstily. :P
