theatre

Anticipation…

The curtain rustles as someone tries to take the tiniest peek into the audience

Laughter and shouting can be heard out there

In here, there is a deafness, a mute on our voices

We jump and giggle and pray that we don’t forget cues

But we are anxious and scared, knowing that what we’ve worked for is here.

Theatre can look easy, with an eye-capturing ease.

But backstage there is adrenaline…

Backstage is where the fun is.

Despite its potential metaphorical application, I agree with this completely at face value. Which is why I had fun being in the backstage crew in middle school. *sigh* Memories...
